Built for the Dungeon Master (the player who does the homework)

The DM D&D helper for people whose villains have five-step plans and whose players have other ideas.

Your Tuesday, roughly

There are half-written notes from Sunday's session in three places, and one of them is your phone. The villain has a plan, a good one, and every step of it lives in your head and nowhere else. The group chat is currently deciding between this Friday and never.

And you already know, with the calm certainty of experience, that whatever you prep this week, your four players will walk straight past it and befriend the least important person on the map.

You'll prep anyway. You always do. You're the one who does the homework, and somehow it is still the best part of your week.

A DM helper that plans the way you improvise

We built Dungeon Weave because our prep never survived contact with our players either, and we got tired of tools that assumed it would.

Your campaign lives as StoryNodes (the full tour is on the campaign manager page): branching storylines that hold what could happen down each path your party might take. When they infiltrate the cult instead of fighting it, that branch is already there. When they ignore it entirely, the consequence you planted is waiting three sessions later. Every action has a consequence, and the weave keeps track of which ones are now live.

Plan the branches once. Improvise on top of them forever.

The dungeon master tools, in one kit

Everything hangs off your storylines, so nothing lives in a lonely document again.

Prep less. Arrive readier.

The setup is one evening: plant your threads, attach what belongs to them. After that, most weeks need half an hour, because last session's consequences are already pointing at next session's opening.

That's the quiet difference between DM tools and a pile of documents. Documents pile up. The weave compounds, and every week you arrive holding exactly the threads your party left dangling.

What Dungeon Weave won't do

No maps. No world building wiki. And it is a planner rather than a virtual tabletop, so nobody rolls dice in here.

Prep here, play anywhere: at a kitchen table, on Roll20, over voice chat at midnight. If maps and deep lore archives are the heart of your process, other tools do that job properly and we've reviewed them honestly on this site. This page stays truthful so the rest of it can be believed.

Free to start

The free plan covers your first 5-10 sessions then once you see the value, we've just launched our Casual DM plan @ £3.50 a month. Most of D&D for Dungeon Masters happens in the six days between sessions, and we think the tool for those six days should cost less than the pizza on the seventh.

FAQs

Is this for new DMs or experienced ones?

Both, for different reasons. New DMs get structure they don't have to invent: threads, consequences and a place for everything, which quietly teaches the prep habits that take years to find alone. Experienced DMs get their existing instincts reflected back as a system, minus the ritual of reorganising notes every few months. The tool doesn't care how long you've been behind the screen; it cares that your players are unpredictable, which they are at every level.

Do my players need accounts?

You can run everything yourself: party tracking is built for the DM's side of the screen, so your players' characters, promises and progress are tracked by you without anyone else signing up for anything.

Does it work with published adventures?

Yes, and rather well. A published module is a set of threads somebody else wrote, so plant them as StoryNodes the same way you would your own, and track your party's detours from the book as branches. Modules assume a path; parties never take it. The weave holds the difference.

What if I already have a notes system?

Keep what works and bring the living parts. An evening is enough to plant your active threads, your current NPCs and the promises still in play, and that's the whole migration, since old sessions can stay wherever they are as an archive. Your system got you this far. This is the version of it that keeps up.
